The Specialized Epic World Cup frame is the fastest XC racing bike on smooth trails, thanks to an unparalleled combination of efficiency, control, and lightness. Champion Christopher expresses it this way: “This bike gives me everything I could desire from a hardtail, with the added control and capabilities of a full.” To create this racing machine, we adopted a totally integrated development approach, inventing an entirely new shock absorber, thanks to four decades of victories on the off-road racing stage. To achieve maximum speed through perfect power transfer efficiency and ultra-precise handling, our engineering team has set the new standard in terms of torsional stiffness and bottom bracket. The double diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized's history and supports the stiffness goal by integrating the shock absorber as a structural element. The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team has developed revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup to give it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, along with the control and capability of a full. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock absorber with independently adjustable positive and negative air springs gives the Epic WC the coveted “snap” of hardtails, combined with a lightness that devours the terrain and provides the ability to adjust the setup based on a specific course or personal preferences. The 75 mm of travel of the Epic World Cup behaves as if it were much more. When the bike is ridden in firm mode, it offers the same positive travel as a bike with 100 mm of travel set with a 25% sag. The optimization of air volumes and damping characteristics allows the Epic WC to handle impacts like a bike with more generous travel. The dedicated MegaJounce bumper provides robust bottom-out support to manage the most violent impacts. While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock provides the perfect mix of absorption and firmness at the rear, the BRAIN in the fork is alive and well, with Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm of sag, without the need for lockout or levers to operate. With a frame weight of just 1765 grams (painted, with shock and hardware), the Epic World Cup is the lightest on the market. This lightness translates into explosive accelerations, maximum efficiency climbs, and surprising maneuverability. The sum of these features is speed. We managed to design such a light yet stiff frame thanks to what we learned in the design of the Aethos, particularly regarding the carbon layup. The Epic World Cup comes with the new Roval Control SL seatpost, ultra-lightweight and stiff. The new Epic World Cup with Ride Dynamics Developed Suspension Technology has 75mm of travel on the rear wheel. Thanks to the new technology, the pedaling is very efficient, and this Epic is ready for the most challenging descents.
